처음부터 애매하게 대답 하지 마라

▶Rule #7 : Make "honest excuses" later. Not in the beginning!

               "솔직한 변명"은 나중에 하기. 처음부터 하지 않기!

 

오픽은 자기 이야기를 솔직하게 말하는 것이 좋다. 다른 사람의 말은 하지 말아야 한다. 학원 스크립트는 버려야 한다는 말이다.

IM학생들은 너무 솔직하게 답하려는 경향이 있다. 질문에 대해 할말이 없을 경우 솔직하게 할말이 없는 이유를 설명하려 한다. 그러가 보면 대답이 꼬이기 일수다. Main Point가 확실하게 들리지 않게 된다.

예를 들어 너는 최근에 언제 술집에 가봤니? 라는 질물에 대해서 술을 잘 마시지 않고 술집에 잘 안간다면 IM학생들은 이렇게 말한다. "사실 나는 술을 별로 좋아하지 않는다. 그래서 술집에 잘 가지 않는다. 내가 제일 최근에 술집에 간 것을 아마도 2달전일 것이다....."

이런식으로 대답을 해가다보면 뭘 말하려고 했는지도 잊어버리고 답변이 꼬이기 시작한다.

"나는 2달전에 술집에 갔다. 그 집은 수제 맥주가 너무 맛있었다" 이런식으로 바로 가야한다.

 

▶ Comparison Strategy 비교질문 대답 전략

1. Main Point (Pure Present) : 과거에 대해서는 아무 이야기 하지 마라. Noting about the past. Just focus on present.

ex) I live by myself in a normal looking apartment. I would say it's pretty small, but I love how big my washroom is.

4. Conclusion

순으로 구성하라. Main Point와 Past가 비교되고 다시 Past와 Present가 비교된다.

이렇게 한 문장안에서 비교급으로 문장을 표현하지 마라.

My childhood's home... Oh, actually I can't remember very specifically, but one thing I just remember very clearly it was so huge house. Sofa, furnitures, chairs, desks... everything was so huge, so big. It's feels like I was a ant. Because I think I was a little girl that's why I feeled like everything was so big. Now, I'm live in more big house. But I'm still need more place. I feels it's not bigger than when I kid is. Oh, maybe I'm growing so that's why I feels like it.

My Childhood's home...  I can't remember very specifically, but one thing I do remember is that it was clearly a huge house. The Sofa, furniture, chairs, desks... everything was so huge. So big. I truly felt like an ant! Because I think I was a little girl that's why I felt like everything was so big. (My place is big, but I still want a bigger place.)   Now, I'm living in an even bigger home. But I'm still feel like I need more space. I just can't belive it. Even though it's definitely a bigger place, I still feel like it's not that big. Oh, maybe I'm growing so my perspective is changing. (

▶Tips

- 시작하자 마자 질문의 단어를 사용하는 것은 좋다.

- 감정을 보일 수 있는 표현을 많이 준비해야 한다.

- Comparison Strategy를 잘 사용해야 한다.
