AL학생은 자기소개도 다르게 한다

오픽 시험을 계속 치지만 IH까지 받는데 AL을 받지 못하시는 분은 AL을 받기 위해서 팁이 필요하다.

이 팁만 알면 IH 실력으로 AL도 받을 수 있다.

If we put our minds to it, the sky's the limit! 마음만 먹으면 못할 일이 없다.

* the sky's the limit의 뜻

직역하면 하늘 끝 만이 한계라는 뜻이다. 즉 하지 못할 일이 없다. 무한한 가능성이 있다는 뜻으로 이 표현을 쓴다.

Hi, I'm Rachel. Uh, uh actually, I don't know what to tell you about myself. But.. uh thease days I really into KPOP music. Because, um, you know, you know what? I gained a lot of weight these days. So, I need to lose my weight. So, I should decide... uh, I decide to go to KPOP Music Dance Academy. To lose my... uh, to lose my weight. So, I went there. Actually, you know what? Actually, I took twice... just twice classes. Just from this week. I'm gonna keep learning, ok? And that's pretty much what I have to say about myself.

I gained a lot of weight these days, so I really need to lose my weight. So, I decided to take KOP dance lessons to lose my weight. So, I went there. Actually, you know what? I only took 2 classes so far this week. I'm gonna keep learning, OK? And that's pretty much all I have to say about myself.

So please do forgive her if you feel she's a little bit rusty at first.

But I could pretty much guarantee that after this whole entire AL series.

You'll get a better understanding of what AL truly feels like.

AL Tip1 : 말을 빠르게 하는 것보다 끊임없이 지속적으로 하는 것이 더 중요하다

 

속도도 중요하지만 말을 끊기지 않고 지속적으로 하는 것이 더 중요하다.

간단한 것도 자세히 멈추지 않고 설명하면 AL을 받을 수 있다.

And she's also able to explain the simple things in greater detail... NONSTOP!

Anyway, Constant talking is the most important thing when it comes to AL.

And we're gonna look into that in greater detail.

But I'm sure Rachel was just nervous because in normal conversation she usually doesn't make this kind of mistake.

Now this part over here was also very natural.

 

AL Tip2 : 잘못 말했을 때는 한두 번은 고쳐 말하고, 계속 틀리면 그냥 넘어가라

 

내 말이 틀렸을 경우 고쳐도 되는데, 한두번 고치다가 잘 됐는지 모르겠으면 그냥 넘어가는 것이 좋다. 깨끗이 잊어버리고 넘어가라. 계속 고치려고 애를 쓰면 대답이 약하고 실력이 떨어지게 보인다. 모른척하고 넘어가 버리는 것이 좋다.

 

AL Tip3 : 어딜 간다고 표현할 때는 영어는 장소가 아니라 사람한테 간다고 말한다

 

한국사람들은 병원 간다고 말하는데, 미국 사람들은 의사를 보러 간다고 말한다.

(한국사람) I need to go to hospital. (원어민) I need to go see a doctor.

(한국사람) I need to go to a car repair center. (원어민) I need to take my car to a mechanic.

If you have pain in your teeth, Koreans go to a dental clinic. But Native go gee a dentist.

If yo need to get a haircut, Koreans go to a hair salon. But Native go to a barber or a hair stylist.

 

※ 개인 의견

일반적으로 자기 소개를 하라고 하면 이름, 나이, 직업, 태어난 곳, 가족사항 등으로 딱딱하게 소개하는 사라들이 많은데, 그렇게 하지 말고 현재 막 시작한 취미, 관심있는 이야기, 새로 사귄 친구 등 현재 내 주변에서 변하고 진행되고 있는 일들을 소개하는 것이 훨씬 높은 점수를 받을 수 있고 자연스럽다.
