Um, Ok. I went to Swiss with my sister for about.... a few months ago. And it was frigging awesome because I got to go skydiving. And um, talking about it makes me wanna call up my sister and go there again. Anyway, we stayed there just for few days. And I didn't have that much time to travel. So, I had no choice but to choose only one activity. And um, if only I had more time. Anyway, I decided to go skydiving as my main activity. And believe it or not, I didn't feel nervous at all before I went skydiving. But, when I was about to jump, I was like "OMG, OMG! I can't do this! I can't!" And then, I think I passed out, uh, for a few seconds. And then when I wake up... it was the most thrilling thing that I've ever experienced. And um, next thing you know, I was no the ground. And um, you know what? Oh, after this test, I think I should call up my sister... for round two.

Ok, so the first half of her answer's actually quite good.
Her message is very clear because her main point is super good.
She talks about skydiving.
And anything she says now makes that skydiving point bigger and bigger.
Now, the problem I had was with the second half of her answer.
You can see that she was actually focusing on trying to fix her grammar instead of making her message clear.
And this is the problem with many OPIc students.
 
AL Tip1 : 문법을 고치려 하지 말고 필러를 사용하면서 다음으로 넘어가자
 
The effort of wanting to do great is there.
But sometimes not "trying too hard" is actually better.
Never forget this:
When yo are answering on OPIc question, you have one main goal.
The goal is NOT TO perfectly answer it especially grammatically.
But instead, your goal is to make your message very easy to understand.
If you keep trying to fix your grammatical mistakes, your message will diteriorate.

뭘 했다는 사실, 감정, 그리고 그 감정을 느끼게 된 이유가 명확하게 들어가 있다.

AL Tip2 : 내 이야기만 하지말고 다른 사람의 이야기도 같이하자
 
IH수준의 학생들은 그들 자신에 대한 이야기만 하는 경향이 있다.
AL이 되기 위해서는 본인 뿐 아니라 다른 사람 이야기도 해야 한다.
레이첼은 본인 이야기만 하지 않고 여동생과 함께 스위스에 갔다고 말했다.
If you're able to talk about another person, your answer become rich with flavor.
만약에 스위스에 혼자 갔다고 한다면 다음과 같이 동생을 엮을 수 있다.
I went to Switzerland alone about a few months ago.
You know, I really wanted to bring my sister. But unfortunately, she couldn't make it.
AL을 받기 위해서는 본인을 제외한 다른 사람을 이야기에 넣어보세요.
그렇게 하면 답의 질이 훨씬 좋아 진다.
 
AL Tip3 : 뭘 했는지 말하고 나면 내가 어떻게 느꼈는지 반드시 말하자
 
많은 학생들이 뭘 했는지는 이야기하지만, 그걸 함으로 뭘 느꼈는지에 대해서는 이야기하지 않는다.
감정을 이야기하자.
특히, 새로운 언어를 배울 때는 감정을 자세하게 말하려고 해 보자. 이것이 스피킹 능력을 향상하는 좋은 방법이다.
It's a very personal way to communicate. And also, it is a lot easier to understand.
 
* 콩글리시
- 대부분의 한국사람들이 "all"을 올이라고 말하는데, 혀룰 꼬아서 오~ㄹ이라고 해야 한다.
 
AL Tips4 : 직접화법을 적절하게 잘 사용하자
 
레이첼은 " I was like~"라고 쓰면서 직접화법을 사용했다. 과거의 경험 Past experience를 이야기할 때는 직접화법을 사용하면 답변이 다이내믹해진다. 그리고 여러분의 문법 스킬도 보여줄 수 있다.
과거 시제를 사용하고 직접화법을 사용할 때 여러분은 현재시제를 사용하는 것이 된다. 그럼 실력이 있어 보인다.
