You decided to take dance lessons together with your friend.

To your great disappointment,

it was actually quite boring and you want to leave.

Tell your friend about it and 2 or 3 alternatives.

All right, so Nicole, how is it?

I don't know man..

I mean, I don't think this is, uh, this is what I thought it would be.

Oh, really? OK...

It's not as fun.

Ah, jeez. ok.

I'm sorry.

No, no!

Hey, you don't have to be sorry, you know?

I'm sorry to bring ou here.

No, no, it's OK.

I just happened to be not what I expected.

So, Nicole,

What do you think about the class?

Don't you think it's so awesome!

I don't know if it's so awesome.

Oh, really?

Is it ok if we just go now?

Oh, oh, are you serious?

Oh, was it that bad?

It was pretty bad.

I don't want to put you in a weird situation or anything.

Here's the problem though.

I mean, normally, I would go with you.

Like, right now.

But you see, I didn't tell you that... that teacher is um... my mother.

Oh, that's your mother?!

She's trying out

This is like one of her first classes.

And she's really trying her best.

Um, what should we do?

Um, I don't know....

I don't know what we should do.

I don't know either.

You're the problem solver.

Can you... what do you think?

Can we just say that I'm not feeling well?

And I have to go and you have to take me out?

That's a great idea.

Let's do that.

Yeah, well, I don't know about this class.
It's not what I expected before I came?
So.. can we just go now?
Oh, no? That's your mother?!
Seriously?!
Ok, then, um... let me think.... um...

How about, uh, we tell her that I'm not feeling well....
so you have to take me out to the hospital or something?Would that work for you?
Yeah?
Ok, thank you, let's go!

Yeah, well, I don't know about this class.
What about you?
It's not what I expected before I came?
So.. can we just go now?
Oh, no? That's your mother?!
Seriously?!
Ok, then, um... let me think.... um...

What about, uh, we tell her that I'm not feeling well....
so you have to take me out to the hospital or something? That works for you?
Yeah?
Ok, thank you, let's go!

Listen, this is an AL video.

and I'm going to be outlining a strategy for you to be able to answer difficult RP12 questions consistently.

Now, over here, let's try to analyse Nicole's answer.

She first starts off with:

What I really love about this sentence is that she uses "I don't know".

This is actually a very good expression.

Whenever you want to show that you don't know something.. just simply say it.

I don't know.

That really shows that you're being very honest with that current situation.

Now, before we continue on...

R12 Stragegy

  * 일반적인 질문

That is the basic outline of how I want you to answer RP12 hard questions.

Of cause, we also have the easy RP12 questions but I've already mentioned that to you before..

so if you still haven't watched that video already,

go ahead and pause this video now and wathc this video.

Anyways, over here,

Nicole does a very good job of briefly outlining the situation.

And then over here, she continues on a little bit.

"It's not what I expected~"

This is very nice because in th first sentence, she says:

I don't know about this class.

And then she goes on again to explain it briefly by mentioning that she had a certain expectation,

but now, it's quite different form what she thought before.

And then right away,

She asks her first question to resolve this problem:

1. Can you just go now?

And, of course, this question really makes sense simply because she doesn't want to be there

so she wants to leave.

Oh, no?

That's your mother?!

Now, I really want you to take a look at this word "oh".

It's very simple and really shows emotion and feelings so if you're able to do it as a reaction, do it!

I really want you to practice it, ok?

There's a really big difference between "oh, on?" and "no?"

Both are actually quite good, but if you are lacking emotion, if you're lacking feelings in your answers,

I want you to really incorporate this word "oh".

She really does a great job by repeating what the other person has said.

And then further explains it.

Here she says,

"That's your mother?!"

And then over here, she simply says "Seriously?"

And that is how you should also end your first question.

I really love how she's thinking about the next question.

But she doesn't go to the next question right away.

Instead!

She really shows that she's thinking heavily about this.

And, by doing so, she uses quite a bit of fillers.

"Ok, then, um...  let me think... um..."

And honestly, this is a great strategy!

Expecially this expression "let me think"

This is absolutely great.

And then right after this...

"How about, uh, we tell her that~

2. Would that work for you?"

She doesn't just go directly to the second question.

Instead, she explains how to solve this a little bit by giving a very full suggestion.

And then she further explains that by saying.....

OK so... and that is why

it makes sense for you to take me to th hospital, right?

And then she confirms that with a very, very concrete question.

She asks,

2. Would that work for you?

That is extremely skillful.

And if you can do that, please...

I want you to try to do it, ok?

Now, let's focus on a little bit of 영어회화 here.

Let me tell you this.

A lot of the native English speakers will use the word "what" instead of "how" most of the time.

So, over here, my recommendation is that you try to practice using "what about" instead of "how about".

Korean will use "how about" like 100% of the time.

But if you want to start sounding a little smoother,

I want you to start focusing and practicing on using "what about".

Now, of course, sometimes you cannot use "what about".

But I do want to tell you that most of the time, it does work.

Now, over here, let's take a look at her response.

The "yeah" part here is the "진짜?"

Which is a very similar style to the RP11 difficult question.

And if you haven't watched that video yet,

What are you waiting for?

Go ahead and watch that video first.

However, it is my recommendation that before you do this,

you should still try to show what the other preson has said.

So, here's my recommendation.

I want you to notice that these questions 1 and 2 of the RP12 difficult questions are very, very specific questions.

These are questions to really solve a certain problem.

Don't forget this.

So, sometimes over here,

whenever you are trying to kind of briefly describle your situation,

and you're trying to clearly outline the problem here,

sometimes you'll realize that you want to kind of just ask a normal question.

Not a questions about solving the problem.

Just a normal question.

Kind of like the questions you would ask in the RP11.

So, for example, this is what I mean.

It is not a question to solve the problem.

It is just a generic questions.

So, for RP12, you do not have to show what the other person has said for these simple generic questions, ok?

Again, this is my recommendation and I want you to only show what the other person has said when you ask those very important 2 questions that really do matter for this RP12 질문.
